Before attending a LANY gig at the 02 Academy Brixton, I wanted to create some posters which would be a symbol of fan-art but also a quick exercise to see what I can come up with in terms of promoting the band and promoting their music. I decided to include vibrant gradients in all my posters to pay homage to LANY's latest album, Malibu Nights, which included a pink gradient across the album cover so I wanted to keep this style across my work.
For the first style of posters, I decided to create a list of all the upcoming gig destinations the band will be visiting. As these posters were just for my benefit not including every single date on the LANY tour isn't an issue. With this first style of posters, I wanted to convey who the band was, what the occasion was, a symbol/logo they are associated with and some small chunks of information about their tour.
In terms of my second poster style, I wanted to promote the lyrics to a wide range of LANY's songs on their latest album. As I was getting over a break-up at the time similarly to Paul Klein, the lead singer of the band, a lot of lyrics across all songs could relate to my own situation. So I decided to chose lyrics which explained how I felt but which would also relate to many others who have gone through heartbreak.
As these posters were done within an hour as a quick exercise, I can say I am very proud of the outcome as the style could easily be associated to LANY.
