Previous Condition is a short story by James Baldwin, a Black American Author from the 70s. My task for this project was to reinterpret "the book".
In this short story by Baldwin, there was a lot of dialogue which as a result, made me decide that creating a messaging app would be a suitable medium to display the information within this story. The front cover has been inspired by Jan Tschichold's Penguin Books covers that he created whilst the rest of the app has been inspired by messaging apps such as Whatsapp, Instagram and Messenger.
Orange and White is the theme throughout to relate to the book cover. As this was a typographically focused project, rather than using visual images such as profile pictures or landscapes for the camera, I decided to maintain that focus on typography.
